It’s a great way to recycle a puzzle with missing pieces if you have one or you can easily find an inexpensive puzzle at your favorite Goodwill of Orange County store. Just look in the toy and game section. We found a 500-piece puzzle for a great price!

Follow the simple three-step process below to make your own Valentine’s Day Puzzle Piece Wreath:

Puzzle
Spray paint or Acrylic paint and foam brushes
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Ribbon

Step by Step Instructions:

Step 1: Lay out puzzle pieces on a piece of cardboard with the backside of the puzzle facing up. The front of the puzzle pieces are usually coated with a sealer and won’t absorb the paint well. Spray paint the pieces red, or have your kids paint them with acrylic paint. Be sure to let them completely dry.

Step 2: Cut a thin heart shape out of cardboard. It needs to be wide enough for strength, but thin enough so your puzzle pieces will cover it.

Step 3: Glue the puzzle pieces around the cardboard heart, try to hide as much of the cardboard as possible. We used a hot glue gun to stick our pieces on. You can also use craft glue if you want the kids to help! When finished with the first layer, see if you need a second or third layer to completely cover the cardboard. It will depend on how wide you make your cardboard wreath and how large your puzzle pieces are.
Optional Step: We also added a white ribbon to the outside edges of our heart to hide the cardboard, but this is completely up to you.

And just like that, you’re done! The result is a cute Valentine’s Day decoration the whole family can enjoy.
