Aside from the 4th of July, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Don’t get me wrong – I love Christmas. But, Thanksgiving is nice in that 1.) obligatory gift-giving isn’t required and 2.) it reminds us to consider what we’re grateful for.
Oh, and the meal.
Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, pecan pie – at least, that’s why I like to pile on my plate!
Thanksgiving is also one of those times to meet with family. So, whether you’re hosting or being hosted, you want to be well-dressed. Here are my top 4 looks for Thanksgiving. And, the best part about these, is that most pieces can be easily duplicated by shopping at any Goodwill of Orange County location.
Plaid with leopard is such a new trend, it’s so tomorrow. Plaid flannels are easy to find at Goodwill, as are any animal print skirt. For this look, you can substitute with snake print as well.
For something a bit more classic, see if you can find a basic sweater – either with a Peter Pan collar, or add one. Pair with a festive red pencil skirt and a swing coat in a classic pattern.
For a more relaxed, but sleek look pair a red cowl neck sweater with medium wash flares, kitten heels and a comfortable wrap coat.
If you’re feeling modern and non-traditional, find a printed cropped sweatshirt with a botanical motif. I like feathers because it suggests fall and Thanksgiving fauna, without being too literal. Pair with a longer blouse underneath, distressed jeans and metallic slip ons.
