Vintage…it is a trend that is staying strong. Hello from Janeane with Janeane Pittman Interior Design presenting a DIY furniture project that will add a vintage flair to your home using items found at Goodwill of Orange County.
It all began with a quick visit to shopgoodwill.com where I found a fantastic leather suitcase sold by Goodwill of Orange County, Santa Ana location. Here are the steps I took to turn this piece into a Vintage Leather Suitcase Coffee Table:
- Vintage Leather Suitcase from Goodwill via shopgoodwill.com
- Four 6″ Wood Table Legs
- Four Top Plates
- 36″ Glass Round Table Top
- Wood Stain
- Polycrylic Protective Finish
- Sponge Brush
- Sand Paper
Step 1-Stain furniture legs and set aside to dry.
Step 2-Sand the legs to give them a rustic, distressed feel. Wipe the wood dust off, give them a coat of clear polycrylic finish, & set aside to dry.
Step 3-Place the suitcase down with the bottom side up. Screw in all four top plates to the four corners of the suitcase.
Step 4-Screw in the four stained legs into the top plates.
Step 5-Place a glass round table top on top of the suitcase and accessorize.
I placed a collection of vintage glass bottles on top to go with the same feeling as the suitcase.
I love how you can see the details of the worn leather through the glass top.
Although it has slight damage, it adds life and character to this piece.
From an old suitcase I saw online to a Vintage Leather Suitcase Coffee Table sure to be the topic of conversation.
