Summers in Orange County are … a bit odd. What I’m talking about is the delay of summer for an annual thing we here in the OC call May Gray and June Gloom.
During this time, a thick marine layer hangs out over the beach cities – and even into Santa Ana – all morning and doesn’t dissipate until about 3:00 in the afternoon. For a Mid-West girl like me, that’s awfully annoying.
I suppose Mother Nature’s intention is to even things out a bit for us, as we do have perhaps the most convenient weather of all large, metropolitan areas in the country. But, still, making us wait until almost literally the 4th of July for some coastal sunshine feels a bit unfair.
Fortunately, Goodwill-lovers, in case you haven’t checked your calendar recently, you should know that it’s finally summer. And, since we know that good ol’ Mother Nature will finally stop teasing us with her funny little weather trick, it’s time to break out the shorts and tank tops.
However, if your summer wardrobe from last year is looking a bit shabby from being dragged back and forth to the beach one too many times, then it’s time to check out the OC Goodwill Boutique for some new summer threads. Here are a few outfit combos I worked up for both guys and gals during last shopping trip.
Many of these outfits are perfect for all the summer holidays, trips to the beach, summer afternoon parties and the occasional casual date night.
I also came across some fun 80s throwbacks for women. They’re all great additions to a wardrobe, and not just for costume parties. I found a linen shift dress, a lace prairie blouse, a pair of high-waisted white shorts (very on-trend), and a fabulous red dress.
UPDATE: Right after photographing the prairie blouse, a savvy Goodwill shopper snapped it right up! When everything is one-of-a-kind, you’ve got to be quick!
