Wardrobe Gems Galore at the New OC Goodwill Boutique

Hi everyone! Nicole here from The Wardrobe Code.

As a wardrobe strategist to young women building their careers, the main concerns I hear from my clients are the following:

I don’t have a lot of time

and

I don’t have a lot of money

While many of my clients are brave enough to shop a thrift store for their wardrobes, as I do, an equal number aren’t quite ready to roll up their sleeves and go thrifting. I completely understand; it’s full-contact, guerilla shopping – only for the truly bargain obsessed. However, as of this past week, if you’re in Orange County, you have a new option. An option which isn’t quite thrifting, yet much less expensive than the mall.

The new OC Goodwill Boutique isn’t just any charity boutique selling dated designer labels – no way. This boutique easily rivals resell chains like Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads Trading Company with one main benefit the competitors don’t have: all sales support Goodwill of Orange County.

So recently, I rounded up my interns and we went shopping for some comfortable, yet professional pieces for our wardrobes.

Right away, we realized this wasn’t just any resell boutique. The design was industrial-chic and it was obvious there was a lot of thoughtfulness that went into the arrangement of the store. On the right of the store was where most of the clothing was set up, but on left was almost a mini boutique of high-end suits, coats, formal wear and shoes.

We shopped around for about half an hour before bringing our finds to the dressing room.

We liked this area in front of the dressing rooms, where we could sit and chat.

We could have easily stayed and shopped for the rest of the day because we kept finding so many great things – jackets, skirts, dresses. But, most impressive was the selection of shoes. Everything seemed to be in good to excellent condition and all a perfect addition to a professional yet functional wardrobe.

Just like a thrift store and a resell store, the inventory turns over on a regular basis – which is a major advantage in my opinion. It’s a plus if you like to shop often – which you can do guilt-free here. The prices are ridiculously reasonable, clocking in at about $15 on average for wool crepe dresses and Tahari suit jackets.

The OC Goodwill Boutique is my top choice for building a wardrobe in Orange County. I hope you visit soon and visit often to add some great things to your wardrobe while supporting an even greater cause. Check out the video below for my tips on pairing separates for a professional look:
