If you’re still trying to decide what to be for Halloween this year, look no further than Goodwill of Orange County. You’ll find everything you need to create a one-of-a-kind look that’s sure to amaze your friends and family. Our stores are a treasure trove for do-it-yourself projects, and when you visit your local Goodwill store, not only will you find affordable items, but your purchase will help provide job training services to people facing barriers to employment in your community.
Here are just a few creative costume ideas you may want to try:
Crayon: Find a solid color sweat suit. Use puffy paint or a magic marker to print the word “Crayon” in large black letters down the length of your body. Create a pointed hat using construction paper that matches your sweat suit. Paint your face to match. And if you’re going with a group, go for the whole crazy crayon box.
Zombies: Join the craze and add a few strategic shreds to just about any outfit. Cheerleader, football player, white collar worker…hmmm who else reminds you of a zombie? You’ll need funky face paint and some fake blood to pull this look off—and whatever you do, don’t forget the blank stare.
Vampires: True Blood, Twilight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer—bring out your inner Nosferatu and get in on this trend. Or if you’re a purist, a pair of black pants, a white button-down shirt and a cape work nicely. Find white and red makeup for your face complete the eerie ensemble.
Holiday Gift: Get in the holiday spirit a couple months early. Find a large cardboard box and cut out holes for your arms. Wrap the box in holiday wrapping paper and a big bow.
Grapevine: When in California—what could be more patriotic? Start with a bright body suit and leotard. Then blow up purple balloons and attach them to yourself with double sided tape. For added security, use garbage bag ties to affix balloons to the tape. And get someone else to drive because this costume could be challenging.
